The team at Ochlos Agritech consists of people who are passionate about the Agtech space, the role and impact it can have in the near and distant future on the agri-food industry. Collectively, we bring more that a century of professional experiences spanning diverse industries and/or verticals including molecular biology.
What are we doing?
The world is at a crossroad: huge growth in demand creates an attractive opportunity for innovation and investment in Agtech; but collective action is required to unlock this opportunity. At Ochlos Agritech, we offer vertical farming as a service (VFaaS) helping clients design, build & operate vertical farms. We work towards localising food system that has a particular focus on health while minimizing it ecological footprint. Vertical farming grows more produce per square meter, giving us “more crop per drop” using 95% less freshwater and significantly less nutrients than traditional farming and minimal food miles (reduced carbo footprint) since it is grown local.
Why are we doing it?
As the climate continues to change, standard means of food production will face ongoing pressure to produce consistent, clean and affordable produce. What once seemed easy and cheap will become expensive and difficult. Controlled environment agriculture (CEA) presents a new paradigm of adaptable agriculture for a climate insecure future where food can be grown closer to consumers using less water, nutrients and pesticides. Driven by local market conditions and global climate shifts, we predict CEA will be a meaningful source of fresh produce in the next decade and beyond.
By being more efficient about where we grow, what we grow and how we grow, food production can be increased while dramatically reducing the environmental impact of agriculture worldwide…
